Saundersfoot II (103 for 4) beat Lamphey II (99) by 6 Wickets

Lamphey travelled the short distance to Saundersfoot on Saturday knowing that they faced a stern test if they were to come away with a positive result. Saunderfoot confirmed their tag as promotion favourites with a 6 wicket win over 10 man Lamphey.

Lamphey batted first and for the 1st time this season they had ex 2nd XI skipper John McPherson to open the batting with current skipper Skeels. Unfortunately for McPherson his ring rustiness proved his downfall as he could only contribute one to the opening partnership before being bowled, Lamphey were in further trouble as Gethin Llewellyn only lasted one ball before he too was dismissed. In at 4 was haydn Cole and he must have been suffering from Vertigo from being so high up the batting order, however he overcame that to record a partnership of 25 with Skeels (9) before the latter was adjudged LBW. 34 for 3 and Cole was joined at the crease by Chris Forth. This partnership developed as the highest of the Lamphey innings as Cole plundered the bowling to all corners of the ground and beyond. In a destructive display of batting Cole hit 5x 6s and 5x 4s as he reached 50 for the 1st time this season and made 65 before being dismissed. Forth also got in on the 6 hitting act but was dismissed without scoring again for 8 and after that no other batsman contributed as Tim Bourne (3) and Mal Llewellyn (1) were the only other scorers. Lamphey were dismissed for 99 largely thanks to Cole's display.

Although not a big total 100 gave the visitors something to bowl at, however even though Skeels picked up 4 wickets the home side had enough batting in their armoury to see them home. Asides from Skeels, Cole bowled well without success and young Scott Brunton bowled well only conceeding 16 off 5 overs.

Star Man - Haydn Cole - a first 50 of the season for Cole gave the visitors some hope when they took the field
