JOHNSTON MOTOR SERVICES
Lamphey (85) lost to Fishguard (86 for 2) by 8 wickets
Lamphey entertained promotion chasing Fishguard in the last game of the
season on Saturday. Batting first Lamphey, strengthened by the return
of Barry Dilworth, George Eddison and Jeff Moseley would have perhaps
felt a little disappointed to only reach a total of 85.
Main run getters for the Stags were Stuart Midgley who saved his best
display with the bat for last as he chipped in with 21 not out inc 2x6s
batting number 9. Earlier on Lamphey had Maldwyn Llewellyn (15) and
George Eddision (14 inc 1x6) to thank for getting the side off to a
reasonable start, however with Luca trimarco and Haydn Cole at 4 and 5
both being dismissed for 0 that good work was undone. Dilworth in a 6
scored 12 before departing whilst Brunton (4) and Dodd (7) couldnt
hang around to make telling contributions. Powell in at 10 departed for
0 and Midgley ran out of partners when skipper Daye was dismissed for 2.
Chasing a total of 85 the visitors took their time knowing a little
over 2 and over was well within their capabilities. Eddison, Llewellyn
and Trimarco bowled well without any luck early on and it was only when
Dilworth (1 for 29) and Brunton (1 for 8) were introduced to the attack
did the visitors lose wickets. However always in control, Fishguard
reached the target in 23 overs with the loss of no further wickets.
Opener K Bowen top scored with 34 before being bowled by Dilworth and D
John remained on 19 not out.
A season which overall sees the Stags 2nd string finish 6th in Division
6 and with 4 sides below them will be satisfied with the final
position. Over the last couple of seasons they have finished 10th (out
of 11) and 8th (out of 10) so there is definite improvement. Hopefully
with the youngsters having that extra years experience and with one or
two additional players the opportunity to improve will once again be
there.
Star Man - Stuart Midgley - Saves his best for last - 21not out including 2 big sixes.

THE
HOPE INN
Lamphey (110 for 8) drew with Pembroke Dock (138 for 7)
Lamphey showed a true grit in their latest division 6 league match with
promotion hunting Pembroke Dock. With the Dock batting first they must
have been looking for a total of 150 plus, however with only Chris
Boyett (25) and John Davies (22) the only pair really getting
established it was no surprise that tight bowling from Haydn Cole (3
for 15) and Mal Llewellyn (3 for 28) restricted the visitors to 138 of
their allocated 40 overs.
The Stags second string have perhaps been guilty of collapsing when
chasing the game, however a top score of 36 from Giusseppe Trimarco, 17
from Haydn Cole (including 2 6s) and 10 not out from teenager Scott
Brunton Lamphey fell just 29 runs short of victory whilst ensuring they
did just enough to secure maximum draw points.
This result shows the positives of the second string this season,
whilst Pembroke Dock will be frustrated that they were unable to knock
over the final 2 wickets needed for the win the Stags will be pleased
with a good days work
Star Man - Giusseppe Trimarco - A great knock of 36 showed he has the ability to chip in with vital runs.

St Clears (49 for 1) beat Lamphey (48) by 9 wickets
Lamphey had the daunting task of travelling to undefeated St Clears, a
task even more daunting as they travelled with only 10 players due to a
late withdrawal.
On winning the toss skipper Daye elected to bat and Lamphey had Rhys
Miller (11), Haydn Cole (10) and Jeff Moseley (9) to thank as the main
run scorer.
With only 49 needed to win it was never going to be enough against a St
Clears side who regularly post 200 plus most weekends and it was no
surprise when they won the game comfortably for only the loss of 1
wicket courtesy of a smart catch by Haydn Cole off the bowling of Luca
Trimarco.
A game which was always going to be mission impossible for the Stags,
St Clears only reinforced their crudentials in a season when they have
been far superior to every other side in the division and on this
evidence will find its feet in division 4 or 3 in a few years time. One
consolation for the Stags is that 2nd placed Fishguard played St
Clears a few weeks back and only managed to score 3 more runs in
securing a very one sided drawn game.
Star Man - Rhys Miller - top scored with 11 and showed that he has the potential to be somewhat of a big hitter

Hundleton passed the Lamphey total for the loss of only 3 wickets as P
Edwards scored 42. For the home side there was a wicket apiece for Luca
Trimarco, Haydn Cole and Mal Llewellyn. There were also 3 catches as
Cole and keeper Tom Powell (2) took those chances going their way.

Match

Llanrhian III (72 for 9) drew with Lamphey (98)
A trip to St Davids saw the seconds face Llanrhian IIIs, the team directly below them, in this latest match.
With Lamphey batting first the opening pair found themselves on a very
difficult wicket which didnt offer a lot. Such was the variation that
one delivery Mal Llewellyn hit for 6 the next shot low trapping him
LBW. Luca Trimarco in at 3 added to his duck the week before and Jeff
Moseley soon departed for 4. Tim Bourne (10) and Dan Cremin (9)
restored some balance but cheap dismissals for Midgley (0) and Mathias
(4) saw the game shift the way of the home side. The unlikely saviour
of the innings however was Tom Powell who chipped in with a very
valuable 11 not out as wickets of Daye (0), White (6) and John (4) fell
around him. Top scorer of the innings was Mr Extras with 44. At the
close of play Lamphey had reached 98 all out.
Opening the bowling was Luca Trimarco and Mal Llewellyn. The pair
getting off to a great start as the home side lost 2 wickets with the
score on 3. The 3rd wicket fell on 13, the 4th on 21 and the 5th on 22
as the openers caused all sorts of problems. The home side did show
some resistance with a partnership of 30 for the 6th wicket thanks
mainly to D Burrows snr who chipped in with 25. Once shifted
however wickets began to tumble again as Llewellyn saw the 7th wicket
fall on 52 and the 8th on 59. With Trimarco finishing with great
figures of 2 for 9 off 12 and Llewellyn 6 for 24 off 12 it was left to
Cremin and Moseley to winkle out the remaining 2 bats. The 9th wicket
fell to Moseley with the score on 66 however with 10 overs remaining
the final pairing somehow managed to shut up shop and block out the
remainder of the match, finishing agonisingly for the Stags on 72 for 9
off 40 overs. In the field Stuart Midgley took 2 catches.
Team to play Hundleton IIs from: M Llewellyn, H Cole, J
Moseley, S Midgley, G Llewellyn, T Bourne, J Mathias, A Dodd, D Cremin, Luca
Trimarco, Seppe Trimarco, T Powell, J White, S Brunton, R Miller, G Purser, C Weatherall and R John.
Star Man - Mal Llewellyn - His second 6 wicket haul of the season taking his tally to 25.
LAMPHEY II v STACKPOLE III 10/7/10
Match

Lamphey
II (89) beat Stackpole II (62) by 27 runs
Lamphey IIs entertained local rivals Stackpole knowing a win would not
only give the side a boost but also see them potentially end the day in
their highest league placing this season.
With Stackpole winning the toss the Stags found themselves batting
first, a choice skipper Daye would have made anyhow. Things didnt get
off to the best of starts as the home side found themselves 2 wickets
down for no runs in the first over as the usually reliable Moseley and
Luca Trimarco back in the seconds after several weeks in the firsts
fell victim to the impressive Zach Cole. With Gethin Llewellyn only
chipping in with 4 it was lucky that vice skipper Mal Llewellyn (17)
bode his time at the crease and with Andrew Dodd (14) and Rhys Miller
(15) went about establishing a target. With skipper Daye managing a
seasons best of 13 and with Julian White (6) holding an end Lamphey
managed to reach a total of 89 before being dismissed.
Any ideas of victory that Stackpole harboured were blown apart early on
as Luca Trimarco showed what he can do with the ball to take 3 for 12
off his permitted 7 over spell and along side the impressive Llewellyn
- 2 for 30 off 12 - Stackpole found themselves in real trouble. If they
thought things would get any easier with the chance bowling they were
wrong as U15 player Rhys Miller produced a great spell of bowling to
take 4 for 14 off 6 overs and despite some resistance from the no9 bat
Marshall (12) and 10 bat Alderman (15) it was left to Andrew Dodd with
his first ball to dismiss the last man leaving Stackpole stranded on 62
all out. In the field there were catches for Gethin Llewellyn (3), Jeff
Moseley, Mal Llewellyn and Luca Trimarco.
A great result sees the Stags pick up their 3rd win of the season and
sit in 6th place. With a visit to Llanrhian IIIs who were dismissed for
just 28 on the weekend the Stags will be looking to cement their mid
table position.
Team to play Llanrhian IIIs away from: G Daye, M Llewellyn, H Cole, J
Moseley, S Midgley, T Bourne, J Mathias, N Mounter, D Cremin, Luca
Trimarco, Seppe Trimarco, T Powell, J White, G Purser, C Weatherall and R John.
Star Man - Rhys Miller - Top scored with 15 then took 4 for 14 for an all round performance.

Lamphey
II (42) lost to Camrose & Spittal II (264 for 4 dec) by 222 runs
A depleted Lamphey 2nds side entertained a very strong visiting XI on
saturday. Sensing this the visitors elected to bat and made hay whilst
the sun shone. With Lamphey relying on Llewellyn, Dodd, Cremin and
Purser as their attack the home side were made to toil in the field.
The visitors racked up the runs thanks mainly to M Jones was remained
undefeated on 103 and M Tweedie (83) who also remained at the crease
before they were called in by the skipper who halted the innings in the
33rd over with the score on 264 for 4.
For Lamphey Andrew Dodd finished with 2 for 54, Dan Cremin 1 for 79 and
Graham Purser also with 1 for 79. In the field Dan Cremin took 2
catches and Julian White on his return to the Stag herd in many years
took a 1 catch.
With such a daunting target to chase it was no surprise that a weakened
home side had little in the form of resistance and things could have
been much worse if it hadnt been for Jeff Moseley (12) and Stuart
Midgley (10). Skipper Geoff Daye was next highest with 7 and Julian
White remained not out on 5 as the Stags were dismissed for 42 and a
whopping 222 run defeat.
With the visit of Stackpole IIs this weekend, the Stags will be looking
for maximum points as the return of Cole, Llewellyn, Mounter and the
two Trimarcos to the fold will give the side a much stronger look all
round.
Team to play Stackpole IIs at home from: G Daye, M Llewellyn, H Cole, J
Moseley, S Midgley, A Dodd, N Mounter, D Cremin, Luca
Trimarco, G Llewellyn, Seppe Trimarco, R Miller, J White, R John.
Star Man - Jeff Moseley - The opener with 12 tried his best to hold the innings together

Burton III (92 for 0) beat Lamphey II (91) by 10 wickets
Lamphey 2nds travelled to fellow strugglers Burton IIIs on saturday
without 4 first choice players, 3 of whom had been called up for 1st XI
duty. Still a side with enough ability travelled across the water in
confident mood, however unbeknown to them they were to face a much
sterner test than expected thanks to St Florence pulling out a their
scheduled fixture with Burton IIs.
With a stronger team than expected Burton IIIs put Lamphey into bat.
The opening pair of Llewellyn and Moseley continued their good
understanding and added 19 for the 1st wicket before Llewellyn was
adjudged to be out for 12, Mounter and Moseley added another 15 before
the former departed for 7. Cremin in at 3 chipped in with 9 before he
departed with the score on 49. Dodd at 5 came and went without adding
to the score bringing the in form Hadyn Cole to the crease. Together
with Moseley they advanced the score to 81 before a collapse ensued and
the last 5 Stags wickets went for only 10 runs. Cole top scoring with
22, Moseley a patient 14, Rhys Miller on his debut 3 and Stuart Midgley
5.
A target of 91 on another day could maybe have been enough to see the
Stags home however despite the best efforts of Dodd, Llewellyn, Cole
and Miller the opening pair of Evans and Ridge passed the Lamphey total
in 16.4 overs cantering to a 10 wicket win.
Team to play Camrose & Spittal IIs from: G Daye, M Llewellyn, J

WELL HILL GARAGE
Fishguard II (179 for 3) drew with Lamphey II (125 for 8)
Lamphey 2nds travelled to 2nd place Fishguard knowing that they would have to perform well to get a result.
Things looked tough early on as Both Trimarco's toiled against the
opening pair of De Groot and Hayes. It was the change of bowling which
brought about the fall of the 1st wicket as leading wicket taker Mal
Llewellyn stepped up to the plate. 74 for 1 and the Stags had to
wait for a further 50 runs before Andrew Dodd picked up the 1st of his
two wickets, 125 for 2 soon became 131 for 3 as Dodd struck again to
finish with figures of 2 for 29. However despite the best effort of the
visitors no further wickets fell and the home side closed on 179 for 3
off their allocated 40 overs.
Lamphey IIs have proven to be a tougher nut to crack of late and
undaunted by the total in front of them set about their reply. Although
Lamphey lost Llewellyn early on for 3, Moseley (12) in his 2nd game for
the Club got in double figures once more. Wickets did fall despite the
best efforts of Gethin Llewellyn who batted well for 16 and Nathan
Mounter reached double figures with a useful 10. However the saviour of
the Lamphey team had to be Haydn Cole who batted well to score 51 (2x6,
4x4 and numerous singles!), his 2nd 50 of the season. With this
resistance Lamphey were able to bat long enough to enter the draw
points equation and although they lost Luca Trimarco for 7 and Midgley
for 4 it was down to Dodd and skipper Daye to see out the last over and
earn a hard fought draw.
A good result against one of the top sides in the division. A
resilience is begining to show through as the Stags self belief
increases. They will be looking to add a win to their previous 2 this
weekend as they travel to Burton IIIs postage stamp ground in a game
which should be fairly evenly matched but hopefully one the Stags can
win.
Team to play Burton IIIs from: G Daye, M Llewellyn, J Moseley, H Cole,
S Midgley, A Dodd, N Mounter, T Powell, D Cremin, Giusseppe/Luca
Trimarco, J Price, G Purser, T Bourne, C Weatherall, R John.
Star Man - Haydn Cole - His 2nd 50 of the season held the Lamphey batting together and earned the side a hard fought draw.

Lamphey II (115) beat Crymych II
by 50 runs
Lamphey 2nds entertained Crymych IIs on saturday and
with the visitors below the Stags must have been confident of a
positive result.
Things couldnt have got of to a better start as new boy Jeff Moseley
(24), in his first game since transferring from the Dock and Mal
Llewellyn (20) gave the home side the firm platform they have missed so
often this season. Although the Stags lost 1st XI batsman Jason Oatley
for 0 they didnt get pressured and with Gethin Llewellyn chipping in
with 12 and Nathan Mounters middle order 35, including one huuuuuge 6,
the home side closed their innings on 115.
The opening responsibilities fell to Oatley and Mal Llewellyn with both
bowling a good tight line and length it was no surprise as wickets soon
began to tumble, Oatley bagging 2 for 10 off 8 and Llewellyn a
fantastic 6 for 33 off 11, his best bowling figures ever in just 4
years of playing cricket, the final 2 wickets of the visitors innings
belonged to youngster Dan Cremin who finished with 2 for 19 as Crymych
were skittled out for 65 and the Stags celebrated their 2nd win of the
season in style.
This saturday (19th) the 2nd XI travel to Fishguard the team is : - G Daye, H Cole,

Lamphey
entertained fellow sixth division side Fishguard in this Alec Colley
round 1 tie. Batting first Lamphey got of to a slow but sure start with
Mal Llewellyn and Tim Bourne putting on 20 for the 1st wicket. However
after Llewellyn (8) and Bourne (9) departed the Stags capitulated
against the visitors attack, with only Nathan Mounter scoring above 5
and 4 players not troubling the scorers it was no surprise as the home
side were skittled for just 39 runs.
With little to lose the Stags showed some character with both the ball
and in the field to make Fishguard work hard for victory. Haydn Cole
took 4 for 5 and Luca Trimarco chipped in with one as Fishguard passed
the total with 5 wickets down.
Had the Stags managed just another 30 or 40 runs then they could well
have been the side progressing to the next round of the cup, however as
it is they will have to make do with thoughts of next years
competition.
Star Man - Haydn Cole - took 4 for 5 to give the Stags the slightest glimmer of hope

by 8 wickets
Ten man Lamphey travelled to promotion candidates Pembroke Dock on
Saturday feeling confident after a fine deisplay against league leaders
St Clears the week before. Batting first Lamphey soon lost their first
wicket as Midgley was out for 0. Giusseppe Trimarco in at 3 hadnt been
with vice skipper Mal Llewellyn long before Llewellyn departed for 5.
Dodd back in the side scored 5 and Mounter in at 5 was also out for 0.
Last weeks hero Cole came to the crease and gave a brief hope of a
repeat performance with a 6 but he soon departed for 9. This meant Dan
Cremin kjoined Triamrco in the middle however Trimarco departed for 24
and although skipper Geoff Daye (6), Tom Powell (4) and Cyle Weatherall
(1) provided some assistance Cremin was left stranded on 24 not out and
the Stags were all out for 91 in 28 overs.
The Stags opened the bowling with Trimarco and Cremin who despite not
making a breakthrough bowled well. It was the change pair of Cole and
Llewellyn who took one wicket apiece as Steve ALford 42 and C Boyett 35
saw the Dock to 90 for 2 before John Davies finished the game in the
20th over.
A tough game for the Stags not made easy by the fact they were short of
a number of first choice players. With one or two returning next week
and new signing Jeff Moseley hopefully cleared to play the Stags will
be looking for a positive result against Crymych on Saturday

Lamphey II (163 for 9) lost to St Clears
(164 for 5)
by 5 wickets
A strengthened Stags side welcomed back Mal Llewellyn, Andrew Dodd and
Guisseppe Trimarco to the fold for this game against a tough oponent
and favourites for the title St Clears on bank holiday Monday.
Batting first the Stags set the shell shocked visitors an imposing
target to chase after finishing their innings on an excellent 163 for
9. This was as a result of Haydn Cole leading the way with an excellent
innings of 83 not out (inc 2x6s) and Guiseppe Trimarco who found form
to support Cole with a good knock of 25. There were also runs from Mal
Llewellyn and skipper Geoff Daye who chipped in with 8 a piece.
Lamphey opened the bowling with the Trimarco brothers, Seppe and Luca,
who both bowled well to snap up one and two wickets respectively. Some
tight bowling and good fielding meant the visitors werent having the
game all their own way and with a further wicket to fall to Haydn Cole
- caught and bowled - and a run out from Luca Trimarco the visitors had
to rely on A Edward (54*) and R Morgan (31*) to steer St Clears to
victory with just 2 overs remaining.
A great performance from the Stags - a great total which would have
been too good for most of the teams in Division 6 - saw them fall just
short of what would have been an excellent winning draw.
Saturday
they travel to Pembroke Dock for another game which will be as tough as
this, however if they can perform as they did today a result is not out
of the question.
Star Man - Haydn Cole - An excellent knock of 83 gave the visitors
something to think about.

II (59 for 4) beat Lamphey II (57) by 6 wickets
Lamphey
2nds travelled to Hundleton to play this latest Division 6 game and due
to unavailability this game became a 9-a-side fixture. Batting first
Lamphey posted a total of 57 thanks mainly to Tim Bourne (18) and
Nathan Mounter (13).
Hundleton got off to a good start in reply as they reached 43 for the
loss of the 1st wicket although the Stags were unlucky with an LBW
shout with the score on 0. This triggered something of a mini collapse
as Hundleton then proceeded to lose a further two wickets with the
score on 43, thanks to the bowling of Luca Trimarco and Haydn Cole.
There was still time for Hundleton to lose a 4th wicket with the score
on 53 thanks to a Tom Powell run out before making the target in just
12 overs.
With a bit more luck the Stags could have been on the end of a victory
however they just didnt have enough runs in the bag to make the hosts
suffer

II (42) lost to Llanrhian III (43 for 3) by 7 wickets
Lamphey
2nds batting first got off to a bad start when they lost
opener
Luca Trimarco LBW for 0. However the 3rd wicket partnership
between Mal Llewellyn (9) and Dan Cremin (14) proved to be the most
fruitful. The weakened 2nd XI proved to be no match for the
bowling of Karl Davies (4 for 19) and R John (2 for
3) as
no other Lamphey player reached double figures. In fact a
side
which included 4 ducks meant the Stags could only managed 42.
The second half of the game got off to a good start for the home side
as Luca Trimarco and Mal Llewellyn opened the bowling and they
proceeded to dismiss both openers for 0 and the number 3 bat for 6,
however a strengthened Llanrhian III XI boosted by their 2nd XI fixture
being called off lost no further wickets as they reached 46 for 3
thanks to J Lovett 13* and R John 12*. Mal Llewellyn finishing with 2

Match

Stackpole
II (110) lost to Lamphey II (112 for 3) by 7 wickets
Lamphey
seconds found themselves on the road once more away to local rivals
Stackpole who themselves had failed to raise a side the previous week.
With the Stags in the strange position of having 13 available to choose
from skipper Daye went with the majority of the side that had done well
the week before and included Gethin Llewellyn who was released from 1st
XI duties.
On winning the toss Daye invited Stackpole to bat and it wasnt long
before the wickets beagn to tumble. Good bowling from Trimarco and
Llewellyn senior and some great fielding from the young Stags side saw
the home side under real pressure. Infact it was only the old heads in
Phil Tallet and Lyn Childs who put up any resistance as they between
them scored 74 off the 110 and with there being 30 wides and no balls
there was little else from the 8 Stackpole players. Llewellyn took 2
wickets to add to the 5 he had the week before and other wickets were
shared around as Trimarco Gethin Llewellyn and Andrew Dodd picked up
one apiece. There were also 2 run outs as Gethin Llewellyn and Geoff
Daye capitalised on the inexperienced Stackpole side and catches for
Trimarco, Midgley and Cremin.
An awkward total of 110 asked questions of the Stags batting
line
up, however they answered all that was asked as despite losing Mathias
for 2, every other batsman managed double figures. Dodd chipped in with
another 13 to go with last weeks doube figures, U15 skipper Trimarco
opened and scored 28 before it was left to 17 year old Gethin Llewellyn
(34*) and 15 year old Dan Cremin (26*) to see the visitors home for
their first win of the season.
A top performance against granted an understrength Stackpole side,
however these games still have to be won and overcomplacency was not an
issue. The youngsters in the side are finding their feet with the
mature giving the stability needed. A few more performances of this
calibre should see the Stags continue to progress up the table starting
next weekend with the visit of Llanrhian IIIs to the LCG.

Lamphey
seconds travelled to Camrose and Spittal one short of the full
compliment. However with confidence high the skipper, on winning the
toss, elected to field first. An even game ensued early on as both sides
played some good cricket. Lamphey opened with Luca Trimarco and Mal
Llewellyn with the latter returning with his best ever figures of 5 for
44 off 12 overs, even more so impressive as this is only his 3rd season
playing cricket. young Dan Cremin replaced Trimarco and continued his
good early season form taking 1 for 28 off 9, as Trimarco
finished
with 0 for 38 off 10. The home side reaching 170 for 6 off their
allocated 40 overs as Simon Atyeo scored 60 not out and Joe John 27 not
out.
With the Lamphey batting not having the best of luck thanks to a
mixture of good bowling and good fielding the challenge got off to a
rocky start from the outset. Despite the Stags showing some resilience
to bat 33 overs only Andrew Dodd reached double figures as he scored 15
with the next highest scorer being young Dan Cremin with 7.
Saturday sees Lamphey travel to Stackpole seconds who
like the Stags have had a tough start to the season as they were unable

would be put into bat. The new opening attack of Mathias and Llewellyn
got the game going however Mathias soon departed LBW for 4. Midgely in
at 3 scored 2 before he too departed leaving Llewellyn at the crease
with Guisseppe Trimarco. The pair went about adding some stability to
the side until Llewellyn (19) departed leaving the Stags on 30 for 3
off 12. Andrew Dodd back after a seasons layoff scored 6 before he too
departed although Trimarco at the other end moved the score along and
by the time he departed the score was 60 for 4 off the first 20. Nathan
Mounter added a good 12 to the score however wickets tumbled regularly
as Dan Cremin 6, Tom Price 0, and Graham Purser 4, meant that the Stags
went from 60 for 4 to 81 all out with no less than 3 of the home side
run out. Skipper Daye remained undefeated at 0 not out as the 10 man
team departed for tea.
A score of 84 in this division can quite often be good enough to win,
however with the side missing one or two bowlers it was down to
Trimarco and Cremin to open the bowling, the latter picking up a wicket
and despite the introduction of Dodd and Midgely to the attack the
visitors reached 86 for 1 off just 14 overs.
